The 2006 Lexus IS 220d Sport comes equipped with a 175 horsepower four-cylinder diesel engine with common rail fuel injection system.

Although the motor’s power and torque — which is 295 lb-ft @ 2,000 rpm — are pretty much the same, the new model features a small tweak to its rear axle.

Lifting the differential gear ratio from 2.474 to 3.200, Lexus’s engineers make the car even more comfortable to operate on the final drive.

As to the electronics, the new Lexus IS 220d Sport comes with brand’s exclusive VDIM system, which controls working of other components of the active safety system, such as ABS, EBD, VSC, EPC and TRC.

To give the car an even sportier look, Lexus equips the IS 220d with 18-inch alloy wheels, spots-style pedals and metal-effect trim details.

Pushing comfort to the very extreme, Lexus offers the car with climate and cruise controls, rain-sensing wipers, parking sensors for both front and rear drive, push-button start and so on.

The Japanese company promises that the 220d will feature 134mph top speed and 0-62 miles acceleration of about 8.9 seconds. Not really impressive, but still acceptable.
