The gorgeous Aston Martin DB9 sports coupe that was officially launched in 2004 will soon be equipped with a new Sports Pack tuning package that will let an average James Bond to squeeze some more kilometers per hour from his baby.
Introduced to the public three years ago during the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2004 Aston Martin DB9 was the first car from Gaydon to be designed and built upon Ford’s aluminum VH platform.
It is understood that the platform will also underpin the upcoming V8 and V12 Vantage, as well as other Aston Martin models to be introduced in the nearest future.
The Aston Martin DB9 Sports Pack, which will be available in July, consists of a new five-spoke forged-aluminum wheels and a revised suspension that doesn’t offer any trade-offs when it comes to control and handling.
The kit allows for a reduction of 5 per cent in the unsprung weight on each corner of the 1.7-ton grand tourer.
Although being the same size as standard, each of the new wheels will also be 1 kilo lighter.
The Sports Pack will allow to lower DB9’s ride by six millimeters. Combined with better front stabilizer bar, stiffer springs and recalibrated dampers, the Sports Pack will hopefully provide the car with a more precise steering and improved body control.
There is still no info on the price of the package and it is not clear whether it is available only prospective customers still in the process of configuring their DB9 or can also be ordered by actual owners in order to retrofit their existing vehicles. Probably, the former.
