2007 BMW X5 E70 SUV: the ultimate spy photo?
Well, if you haven’t been tired by a constant flow of spy photos, featuring the upcoming 2007 BMW X5 E70 crossover SUV, here goes the latest one.
Presented on Saint-Gobain Autover’s, a European supplier of automotive glass, web-site, this particular “spy photo” remarkably differs from the previous jobs.
While all the others looked like photos of the test mules, this one seems to be much closer to reality, although it is blurred and dithered like an average flying saucer photo that you can find in any Sunday supplement.
At least, the pictured vehicle looks more in line with current model range, created under Chris Bangle’s supervision.
To be more exact, it looks like their recently revealed 2007 BMW X3 model slightly photoshopped to look bigger.
The car, which may be officially presented in October during the 2006 international motor show in Frankfurt, Germany, will possibly be offered as a seven-seater and will compete against the new Mercedes-Benz GL Class.
I can also imagine that there will be at least one souped-up version of the car designed as a rival to current Porsche Cayenne family of luxury performance SUVs.
The vehicle is expected to come to dealerships equipped with all-new suspension, a choice of revised diesel powerplants, and new petrol V8, apparently derived from the current BMW 7-Series executive sedan and available with 4.0-, 5.0- and 5.8-liter displacements.
Update: It was a fake, after all.
