The 2007 Renault Megane RenaultSport dCi 175 red-hot sports hatchback will get a diesel engine by March, 2007.
It is reported that the upcoming fun car may be equipped with a powerful, yet fuel-efficient 2.0-liter diesel engine
With a maximum power output of 180 hp and its torque peaking at 360 Nm, the engine will provide the performance hatchback with a top speed of 225 km/h, and will offer acceleration from zero to 100 km/h of about 7.5 -8.5 seconds.
The German magazine Auto Motor und Sport speculates that the 2007 Megane RenaultSport dCi 175 will finally be able to compete against the diesel-powered VW Golf GT TDI.
You see, the German car is, too, equipped with a 2.0-liter oil burner, but its engine squeezes out only 170 hp of power and 350 Nm of torque offering 0-100 km/h acceleration of comparable 8.2 seconds.
The official price, international availability and a list of optional equipment is still to be published.
