The Italian coachbuilder commences production of its new unique Maserati MC12 Corsa limited edition supercar, which will be limited in its use to closed racetracks only.
Just like the recently unveiled Maserati GranSport MC Victory, the new road monster descends directly from the MC12 GT1 type that won the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers Cup.
Using the same high-rev V12 engine as the MC12 GT1, the 1150 kg (dry weight) supercar will offer its proud owner 555 kW of power available at 8000 rpm.
Mated to a six-speed semi-automatic F1 gearbox that we have already seen on the 2007 Maserati Quattroporte executive sedan, the engine will be good enough to provide the car with 0 to 200 km/h acceleration of less than 6.5 seconds and a top speed of frightening 330 kilometers per hour.
To tame this enormous power, the Italian engineers equipped the supercar with a set of steel and carbon Brembo brakes that are hidden inside 19-inch alloy rims wrapped into low-profile Dunlop tires.
Production of the Maserati MC12 Corsa will be limited just to a dozen of units and the car will not be homologated for road use or any existing racing series. Only selected number of current clients will be able to order the car.
The first MC12 Corsa will be built next autumn and will cost 1,000,000 euros not including local taxes.
It also must be noted that, even paying such a hefty chunk of money, you will not be able to get the car and put it into your garage.
It is said that, even after selling the vehicle, the Italian sports car manufacturer will still keep it on its own premises, and will give it away to customers only on designated track days.
On the other hand, Maserati will carry full responsibility for the MC12 Corsa’s performance, providing it with regular maintenance and service.
