The 1997-2004 MY Porsche Boxster 986 entry-level cabriolet with a lot of sports ambitions has just received an exterior upgrade kit from a major Swiss tuner.
Created by the Swiss tuning specialist Z-Art, the body kit provides the good old Porsche Boxster with fresher looks and saves you impressive amount of money on buying the newer 987 model.
The aerodynamic kit consists of a new front bumper, side skirts, rear spoiler attachment, as well as a new rear bumper with an integrated diffuser.
All of the aerodynamic elements are made of glass-reinforced plastic.
Of course, from the point of view of weight and strength the GRP is not as good as dry carbon fiber.
However, it is much less expensive, which is quite convenient when you tune the Boxster, the most affordable car in all current Porsche model range.
There is also a new headlamp cluster that plays the major role it this refreshment process providing the car with more modern look. The round fog lamps placed into the front air intakes also look more appealing.
The rear lights also seem to be new.
The whole kit costs €3,600 plus you’ll have to pay about €1,300 for assembly and an unspecified amount of money for painting it in the right color.
The tuning program is limited only to the exterior, so the Swiss tuner doesn’t offer any upgrades neither to the vehicle’s engines, nor to the suspension.
Judging by the promo photos, you can also place a separate order for a set of new five-spoke light alloy wheels in chrome finish.
Well, the face-lifting process will probably cost you dear, but the money may be well spent if you want your Boxster to stay more or less on par with much more visually impressive Audi TT, BMW Z4, Mercedes-Benz SLK and the gorgeous Japanese Nissan 350Z performance roadster.
