After posting a couple of weeks ago three unofficial photos of what was claimed to be an AMG Sport Package for the latest 2007 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class coupes we now have a thrilling ahem opportunity to publish the first official photo-session of the new body kit.
As one might have expected the new appearance package provides the sporty coupe with even more appealing look and also makes the car easier to manage at especially high speed thanks to improved aerodynamics and, supposedly, increased down force.
The individualization kit features a new front bumper with enlarged air-intakes and chrome-ornamented fog-lights, new side skirts, and a new rear bumper with improved air diffuser and, again, some chrome decoration.
I must admit that, compared to a typical aero kit, which is offered by an average tuning specialist, like Brabus or, say, Lorinser, the factory-built package looks a lot more interesting and organic. Probably, because both Mercedes-Benz and its subsidiary brand AMG can afford hiring the best designers that money can buy.
A set of 19-inch 8.5/9.5 five-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels with embossed AMG lettering, which carry 255/40 (front) and 275/40 (rear) tires, comes as a pricey option. Well, in fact, the set of rims and tires will actually be almost as expensive as the package of plastic parts!
According to the German carmaker, AMG plans to start production of the 2007 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class Sport Package sometime in September, 2006 with ex-factory prices of €5,336 for the AMG body-styling package and €3,132 (CL 500)/€3,972 (CL 600) for the AMG light-alloy wheels.
With installation and painting the cost of individualizing your car will be even higher.
