Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE
Available to Japanese customers since March, the new Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE will make its European debut on 22 August at the ONS2006 energy exhibition and conference to be held in Stavanger, Norway.
The hydrogen-powered Mazda will be a show-stopper at the ceremony of opening of Norway’s first hydrogen filling station, situated near Stovanger.
The hydrogen station will be the first in a planned chain of several similar stations planned by the HyNor Project.
The project bids on a small fleet of Toyota Prius hybrid vehicles, but its sponsors also hope that local citizens, who have to shuttle between Stavanger and Oslo, will eventually start using hydrogen-powered vehicles, such as Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE.
The next hydrogen-filling station along this route will be opened near the town of Grenland in the spring of 2007.
