Tesla Roadster EV to be built by Lotus
July 30th, 2006
Tesla Motors and Group Lotus have signed a manufacturing agreement to assemble the American EV at Lotus’ plant in Hethel, Norfolk.
The agreement doesn’t come as a surprise, since mechanical parts and body of the Tesla Roadster were designed by a team headed by Barney Hatt, principal designer at the Lotus Design Studio at Hethel.
Currently Tesla Motors hopes to sell up to 1,000 roadsters a year at a price of around $100,000.
