German tuning specialist Arden has prepared an extensive AJ-20 tuning program for the latest Jaguar XK sports coupe. Introduced back in 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2006 Jaguar XK (X150) coupe comes equipped with a powerful 4.2-liter AJ34 V8 engine with 300 hp @ 6000 rpm of power and 420 Nm @ 4100 of torque and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Now, Arden wants to make it even more powerful.
To get the job done, the German tuner took the engine apart and equipped it with their own big bore kit thus increasing its -quite generous even as it was- displacement from 4.2 to 4.5 liters. The ECU unite, too, was reprogrammed to better suit the increased capacity of the mill. Together with a sportier exhaust system that now allows the motor to take a good breath, the maximum power output has been increased from not so humble 300 horsepower to even more impressive 380 hp and the maximum torque is now 480 Nm instead of standard 421 Nm.
Besides a set of new 21-inch light alloy wheels and sport suspension, the program also includes some work done over the XK’s interior, which is good, since the coupe’s inner part is widely considered to be done of materials too cheap and of too low quality for such an expensive vehicle (well, we should probably thank Ford for that.)
So, the German tuner has decided to add some touches of precious wood, leather or alcantara, as well as some carbon and chrome.
So far, there is no information regarding how much it will cost to upgrade your XK, but something tells me that the program won’t come cheap.
