Not having enough time or inspiration to give the car a new design, the Japanese company has made yet another attempt on refreshing the stinking corpse of the current Lexus SC 430 sports convertible that was originally introduced more than five years ago to compete against the good old Mercedes-Benz SLK. Judging by the official specs that we have received, the car offers no mechanical or electronic upgrades compared to other versions. It simply became even more glamorous than it was.
Aren’t they tired of those “refreshments” themselves?
Well, anyway, meet the new and shiny 2007 Lexus SC 430 Pebble Beach Edition hardtop convertible, which is introduced to celebrate Lexus’ partnership with the Pebble Beach Company.
The convertible, one of the best in class concerning its driving dynamics and comfort, will be presented at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Lexus Fashion Preview, which is scheduled on Friday, August 18th.
Not willing to fix something that isn’t broken, Lexus did not introduce any changes to the SC430’s electronics or mechanics, limiting refreshments to the convertible’s exterior and interior design.
The car is painted in a charming Starfire Pearl color, also featuring much more aggressive 18-inch G-Spider alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, and two sets of run-flat tires, made to run either in summer or all-season.
There are also some nice touches, added to the SC430’s interior, alas giving the car a pretty ‘girlish’ look.
The 2007 Lexus SC430 Pebble Beach Edition will hit the streets in September 2006.
Only 400 vehicles will be produced.
