General Motors is planning to put the well received 400-horsepower Chevy Camaro Concept into production as early as 2008.
The muscle car will presumably be offered with a choice of a V6 and two V8 engines, the Detroit Free Press reports, citing anonymous sources, close to GM’s top-management.

The newspaper also says that the 2008 Chevrolet Camaro will be built on the same GM’s Zeta mid-size rear-wheel drive platform, which has already been used to produce the 2006 VE Holden Commodore sedan and will be employed to construct future 2007 or 2008 Pontiac GTO coupe, 2008 Chevrolet Impala, 2009 Pontiac G8 and so on.
GM’s CEO Rick Wagoner is expected to make official statement on this point this Thursday.
