Trying to bolster sales of not so popular among Chinese customers Peugeot brand French PSA group decided to put the Citroen C2 badge on its older Peugeot 206 model. It must be noted that the “new” vehicle has nothing in common with the attractive supermini that was designed for the European market and replaced the dull Citroen Saxo in 2003. Oh, but that is not fair, is that?
The vehicle, developed under the code name T21, will not have too much in common with the European C2 compact hatchback we’ve got used to. Rather, it will be the same good old 206 with Citroen’s corporate grille, front bumper and headlamps, and new rear lights.
The Chinese C2 will be assembled in China at the Wuhan Dongfeng Peugeot-Citro?n Automobile plant and will be available to local customers with a limited choice of 1.4- and 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engines.
