The new rear-wheel drive Nissan NISMO 350Z may be looking not as cute as the “ordinary” 350Z does, but it is surely more interesting to look at than the (visually) boring 2007 Audi TT and is certainly more powerful and agile than its more affordable sibling. Featuring new aerodynamics package and sportier handling equipment, the new NISMO 350Z will be available only with a six-speed manual gearbox mated to a mighty V6 engine.
The new 3.5-liter, 24-valve DOHC VQ35HR V6 produces a maximum of 306 hp reached at 6,800 rpm and 268 lb-ft of torque peaking at 4,800 rpm.
New ram air dual intake, equal length exhaust manifold and NISMO-branded tuned dual exhaust system with laser-welded rear mufflers help the engine breath easier.
Its efficiency is ensured with the help of eCVTCS technology, improved cooling and stiffer engine block structure, as well as small pitch silent cam chain.
New aerodynamics package
2007 Nissan NISMO 350Z comes dressed in new aerodynamics package also designed by NISMO.
The package includes new front and rear fascia with chin spoiler and diffuser respectively, new rear wing, side skirts as well as new aluminum hood and heated outside mirrors.
The 350Z’s body is reinforced with additional body welds and special front and rear structures. In the front radiator core support and rear cargo area there are special body dampers.
The NISMO 350Z’s handling is refined with the help on NISMO-tuned four-wheel independent multi-link suspension with some elements made of aluminum; Brembo power-assisted vented 4-wheel disc brakes with four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers; 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD); new traction control system, TPMS and VLSD.
The vehicle will be available in July 2007.
Its price is yet to be specified.
UPDATE (06/13/2007) Okay, we now have an update on the vehicle’s street price. It KickingTires reports that Nissan plans to sell the sportier version of the 350Z at $38,070, which is only a $1970 premium over the previous top of the range Grand Touring 350Z model.
