German super-tuner Edo Competition keeps on tinkering with Porsche’s super-cars. The famous tuning specialist not only gave the gorgeous grand tourer an outrageously beautiful paint job, but also equipped it with a shockingly powerful engine.
This time Edo’s attention was drawn to the good ole Porsche 996 Turbo coupe.
Although the model was discontinued about three years ago, it is still considered one of the most successful Porsches ever.
So it’s no wonder that Edo’s engineers have decided to subject the 996 to extensive cardiac surgery, helping it compete against younger members of the family and increasing its overall life expectancy.
The Porsche 996 Turbo by Edo Competition has been equipped with a supercharged engine, which maximum power output and peak torque were increased to more than impressive 585 hp and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) respectively.
The German tuning specialist has supplied the car with new the BMC-Sport air filter and stainless-steel exhaust kit with a Tri-alloy catalytic converter, 370mm brakes with six piston single block calipers and a heavy-duty sport clutch kit.
With all this power, it takes the tuned 996 only 3.7 to jump from zero to 62 mph and just 9.9 seconds to go from stand-still to 124 mph. Its top speed has also been increased to almost supersonic 250 mph.
Vehicle’s appearance is enhanced with new 18-inch gun-metal wheels, as well as new front spoiler lip and the rear spoiler taken from the Porsche 996 GT2 monster-coupe.
