KTM X-Bow (Crossbow) based on Audi S3

The original KTM X-Bow (Crossbow) is not even on sale yet, but the Austrian KTM has already started preparing for an even faster version of its futuristic track vehicle.

The updated KTM X-Bow R (call it ‘race edition’, if you want) will be motivated by a much more powerful engine currently used on the Audi S3 super-hot hatchback.

As the Autocar is reporting, the engine in question produces up to 280 hp, which mean that every horse will have to drag no more than 2.5 kg (5.5 lb) of hardware.

So, expect the zero to 62 mph acceleration of some three seconds and a pretty nice top speed.

If everything goes as planned, the KTM X-Bow R will be available by the middle of 2009.
