German super-tuner AC Schnitzer will soon start selling its new tuning package for the refreshed 2008 BMW 6-Series coupes and convertibles.
As usual, the kit is not limited to visual enhancements and also includes a comprehensive power upgrade programs for both gasoline and diesel engines.
The 4.8-liter engine installed in the powerful 2008 BMW 650i may get its displacement increased to more appealing 5.1 liters so that its maximum power output jumps from 367hp to 411hp. Top speed is also increased from 215km/h to electronically limited 250km/h.
The oil-burning 2008 BMW 635d may also receive a significant power upgrade of 24hp reaching 310 horsepower. The number of horses under the hood may be not so overwhelming but the twin-turbo diesel’s maximum torque, which is increased from 580Nm to 680Nm (505lb-ft), certainly compensates the lack of hp’s.
On the visual side, the ACS6 tuning kit consists of a new front fascia with a sharpened kidney grille, new rear spoiler, new side skirts and a sports rear silencer with chromed tailpipe finishes. A set of 20-inch Type VI alloys finishes the picture.
As always, the Germans managed to create a well-balanced tuning program that not only improves capabilities of the vehicle, but also correct numerous exterior design mistakes made by BMW. While the original vehicle reminds an old shark on a high fat diet, the new body kit makes the sports car look like a lean and mean predator ready to catch its prey in a single deadly spurt.
