Just 11 copies of the ultra-limited edition 2008 Alfa Romeo Spider Mille Miglia convertible will be built to commemorate Alfa’s eleven victories in the legendary race that started it all. Just to understand how devastatingly dominant had the famous car maker been at that time, consider this: in twelve races that were held between 1927 and 1938, it was Alfa Romeo that was the first to cross the finish line!
From the performance point of view, the Spider Mille Miglia edition doesn’t differ from the standard model.
According to the Italian company, the SMM will be equipped with the same 3.2-liter 260hp V6 engine that the base model comes equipped with.
Accordingly, the special edition Spider will probably have the same zero to 100 km/h acceleration time of just above six seconds and will have a top speed closer to 250 kilometers per hour.
However, there are numerous visual enhancements that make the car look really distinctive in morning traffic.
The first of all, the cars will come to select customers sporting an exclusive Rosso 8C bright-red paintjob and a famous ‘Quadrifoglio’ logo.
Inside, you will see high-contrast red stitching for the black leather seats. There will also be a unique silver plate for each vehicle, marking a certain victory between 1928 and 1947.
Let me remind you that the base Alfa Romeo Spider, which is based on the gorgeous 2006 Alfa Romeo Brera grand touring vehicle, is a decent competitor to the German Audi TT Roadster, BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxster and the Japanese Nissan 350Z GT sports cars.
No info on the vehicle’s price has been revealed as of now.
