The Florida-based Renntech tuning specialist has revealed its new program for the 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series super-coupe. Since Renntech’s founding father Hartmut Feyhl spent about 12 years of his life building engines for Mercedes-Benz super-car builder AMG, most of his current projects are mainly focused on engines and other things that allow you to squeeze just one more horse out of your car’s engine. Still, living in America, he doesn’t forget about looks, too.
Offered as a street-legal version of the Official F1 Safety Car, the 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series is a pretty mean machine. Even in its base form, its hand-crafted 6.2-liter AMG engine delivers 507 horsepower and almost overwhelming 630 Nm of torque. If you manage all this power wisely (and it takes a really skilled rider to tame all these horses even when the automatic seven-speed gearbox does its best to help you), the car will take just over 4 seconds to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour.
Still, there are persons roaming this Earth that crave for even more adrenaline that the German beast can provide and here comes the aforementioned Herr Hartmut Feyhl that applies some voodoo magic to your stallion and increases its maximum power to even more impressive 550 hp, while the peak torque skyrockets to 700Nm. Although there is no information regarding its acceleration time, I can assume that the Renntech version of the CLK 63 AMG Black Series shaves at least 0.2 seconds off the base model’s time.
The extra power is extracted with the help of slight ECU tuning, addition of long-tube headers and a motorsport style exhaust system that sharpens the throttle response.
Of course, the super car comes equipped with new sport suspension with carbon fiber strut braces to both the front and the rear as well as fully-adjustable camber bushings at all four corners. The vehicle’s ground clearance is also lowered by three quarters of an inch (about 20mm.)
There is also new aero kit consisting of a front splitter, a rear diffuser and a huge carbon fiber rear wing.
