2009 VW Scirocco GT is available for order

Volkswagen’s British customers are now able to secure their copies of the 2009 VW Scirocco warmed up hatchback.

Currently available only as a GT model equipped with a 200PS, 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) 2.0-liter TSI engine, the vehicle will start from £20,940 on the road.

The 2009 VW Scirocco GT may be ordered with either 6-speed manual or an automated DSG transmission and will feature a so-so acceleration time of 7.2 seconds with a top speed of 146 mph.

Although Scirocco’s dynamics doesn’t even come close to its energetic exterior, the car at least features a decent fuel economy of 37.2 mpg (7.6L/100 km).

Early next year VW Scirocco will widen the range with two more engines: 2.0-liter 140PS TDI and a 1.4-loter 160PS TSI, the former featuring a combined fuel economy of 52 mpg (4.5L/100 km).
