The first PHEV-converted Ford F-150 pickup truck features a huge improvement in mileage over the normal ICE-powered model.

With its 41mpg, the fuel-sipping F-150 consumes less gas than an average sedan.

Created as a demonstrator vehicle of HEVT’s retrofitting program for trucks, SUVs and vans, the HEVT F-150 features a special ACU, which controls the hybrid drive train. The converted truck comes with an additional in-dash display unit delivering information on remaining battery capacity, energy recapture through regenerative breaking and this sort of stuff.

HEVT plans to go on with a pilot program of the Ford F-150 pickup truck conversions available to organizations and individuals on a custom basis.

Although the company doesn’t say how much the conversion will cost, it still promises to continue “development and optimization, pushing conversion costs down and lowering lifetime cost of ownership for converted vehicles.”
