The 2009 Aston Martin DBS grand tourer will soon receive a number of updates including a new Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 13-speaker audio system.

New features also include a 2+2 seating option, new 10-spoke 20-inch lightweight wheels and the new Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission. The vehicle’s current manual box will remain standard for the James Bond’s car.

The new automatic is a direct descendant of the box first developed for the Aston Martin DB9 model, but with some major enhancements introduced to help it tackle DBS’ powerful V12 engine with its 510bhp and 570Nm of torque.

Its final drive, for example, was shortened from 3.15:1 to 3.46:1 to provide quicker acceleration so that the car with the automatic sports the same 4.3 seconds zero to 100km/4 acceleration time as the original DBS.

Gears, company says, may be changed using a pair of leather-trimmed magnesium alloy paddles mounted on the steering column.

Of course, there is also a mandatory manually activated Sport mode that has its own throttle map, thus featuring quicker shift times, and upshifting at higher engine speeds.

Considering the car’s starting price of £162,500, the automatic gearbox will cost almost nothing, setting you back at only £3000 more.
