Maserati, which is to Ferrari like Placido Domingo to Eros Ramazzotti, has revealed a concept version of its new breath-taking race car.

Based on the Maserati GranTurismo S grand tourer, the Maserati GranTurismo MC Corse Concept is Trident’s bet for the Italian GT3 Cup accreditation.

And, if everything goes as planned, by the year 2010 we will also see a street-legal version of the car!

The civilian version of the MC Corse will sport a new intake system, GT3-spec catalytic converters and a center-exit exhaust system, raising the original V8 4.7-liter engine’s power output by 20 horsepower to 450hp.

The car will also receive new body kit and a new suspension upgraded to work with 8×12-inch front and 18×13-inch rear wheels fitted with racing slicks.

The huge wheels will hide larger brake disks with mono-bloc racing calipers. Of course, the car will also feature an FIA-approved rollcage to protect the driver.

Wow.

All that I can say is ‘wow.’
