2009 Mercedes-Benz S 320 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY sports 33.6 MPG

The 2009 Mercedes-Benz S 320 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY luxury sedan consumes only 7.6 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km, which is 0.7 liters less than an ordinary S320 does.

The level of CO2 emissions lowered to 199g/km, a 10 percent reduction over the standard car.

The BlueEFFICIENCY package, Daimler says in its press release, consists of an automatic gearbox with standstill decoupling technology, on-demand power steering, and a set of low-resistance tires.

What’s really interesting, is that the vehicle’s diesel engine was not modified at all, still delivering its normal 235hp and 540Nm of torque, and taking only 7.8 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h. Its top speed is electronically limited at 250km/h.

In Germany, the 2009 Mercedes-Benz S 320 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY will sell at the same price of €70,864.50 as the normal S320 does.
