Nissan KIX to compete with Suzuki Jimny?

Nissan and Mitsubishi teamed together to create the 2009 Nissan KIX mini-SUV.

The new vehicle is a serious competitor to the revered Suzuki Jimny and this sort of small SUVs that, thanks in part to their small weight, offer outstanding off-road capabilities over full-size behemoths like, say, Toyota Land Cruiser 200 or Chevy Tahoe.

The small SUV, which is based on the older Mitsubishi Pajero Pinin design, will sport the same turbocharged 660cc, 64PS engine with a maximum torque of 88Nm. Not too bad for a feather-light off-roader.

Details are scarce, but it would be a good guess to say that the KIX will feature body-on-frame architecture that has almost become instinct these days.

That’s about all we currently know or can speculate about the SUV’s specs.
