2009 VW Scirocco tuning kit by Abt Sportsline

Last week, German uber-tuner OETTINGER has presented its first tuning kit for the 2009 Volkswagen Scirocco sports hatchback.

Just four days later, its compatriot, the Kempten-based specialist Abt Sportsline has also released its own -albeit not so cool in terms of power upgrade- package for the popular hip car.

And just like the most of comprehensive tuning programs for vehicles with sporty ambitions, the Abt’s offer includes an engine upgrade kits for the 1.4 TSI, 2.0 TDI and the 2.0 TSI, as well as fine-tuned suspension that lowers the vehicle’s ground clearance by 30mm (almost 1.2inches), a set of new brakes and a full body kit.

The body kit consists of a new bumper fascia and grille, a pair of new side skirts with two extra air vents, rear wing and rear bumper fascia, and a roof spoiler.

There is also Abt’s trademark deadly-looking four-pipe exhaust system integrated into the rear air diffuser and a new set of five-spoke alloy wheels available in sizes from 18 to 20 inches.

With the 1.4 TSI, 2.0 TDI and the 2.0 TSI engines upgraded, 2009 Volkswagen Scirocco gets its power increased from 160hp to 200hp, from 140hp to 170hp and from 200hp to 240hp respectively.

To help the driver tame this extra power, Abt equipped the car with new brake kit including new pads, rotor and calipers. The car may also be ordered with custom wheels with sizes ranging from 18 to 20 inches.

In Germany, the full kit will cost €5990. Quite impressive for a car that starts at €22,000 on the German market.
