The 2010 Cadillac SRX mid-size crossover SUV will be officially presented to the public at the 2009 NAIAS international motor show starting next week in Motown.

The new mid-size crossover will be based on GM Theta Premium platform and will share it with the soon to be launched 2010 Saab 9-4X.

Just as we noticed some time ago, the new SRX will sport styling similar to the last year’s Cadillac Provoq Concept car.

The GM Theta Premium platform is basically a mix of the Theta, Lambda and the new Epsilon II architecture currently employed in such vehicles as the 2009 Opel Insignia, 2010 Saab 9-5, and the 2010 Buick LaCrosse premium sedan.

Although guys from GM are still not sure whether it is feasible to equip the 2010 Cadillac SRX the a Two-Mode hybrid drivetrain, the upcoming crossover SUV powered by a E85 3.0-liter 260hp / 221 lb-ft engine will nevertheless offer a 15% better fuel economy thanks to its new Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic gearbox.

There will also be a version of the SUV equipped with a 2.8-liter turbocharged V6 delivering up to 300hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

For AWD models, all this power will be shared between the front and rear axles via a Haldex system equipped with an eLSD electronic limited slip differential we’ve already seen on the Saab Turbo-X luxury sports sedan.

The 2010 SRX will probably start as low as $30,000 when it goes on sale later this year, which will make it a decent competitor to the GMC Acadia, Subaru B9 Tribeca and Mazda CX-9.
