With its new Performance Package Plus set of optional equipment, the 2009 Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG performance sedan and station wagon get their available power increased by 30hp to more appealing 487 horsepower.

The power increase comes courtesy of new forged pistons outsourced from the much more expensive SLS AMG supercar. Together with new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft, they not only make the engine more powerful, they also reduce its weight and inertia, making it more responsive, too.

As usual, the engine’s ECU module is also reprogrammed to make use of the mechanical changes.

With the pack installed, the C 63 AMG’s 0-100 km/h acceleration time is slashed by 0.1 sec to 4.4 seconds and 0-200 km/h time is also reduced by 1.3 seconds to 13.9 seconds.

However, the top speed remains at the same electronically limited level of 250 km/h.

Of course, the pack is not limited to the power upgrade.

AMG also offers new performance braking system featuring compound brake disks on the front axle. The sedan version of the car may also be equipped with a new carbon-fiber spoiler lip.

Both cars also get new AMG performance steering wheel wrapped in high-quality Nappa leather.
