For the next model year the most popular half-ton truck in the United States will bring you even more value for money with its new 2014 Ford F-150 STX SuperCrew trim. Neatly slipped between a humble work-horse F-150 XL and a tad more comfortable F-150 XLT, the F-150 STX is now available with a full-sized SuperCrew cabin that gives you four doors and five seats for you, your missus and the kids. And as for the in-laws, there is plenty of space in the bed, too.
At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the legendary tuner Shelby American -the brand was founded in California more than half a century ago and, since then, introduced a number of custom-made cars that can be called nothing but iconic (like, really iconic: people actually worship them)- has revealed a souped-up version of the 2013 Ford Focus ST hot hatch. Although not as exciting as their 2009 Ford Shelby GT500KR and clearly not offering anything groundbreaking in term of available maximum power or acceleration time, the new 2013 Shelby Focus ST Limited Edition brings you a nice design package with custom interior and some other enhancements.
Celebrating a tremendous success of the family in its stronghold, the British branch of the global brand has issued a special edition 2010 Ford Transit SportVan commercial vehicle.
Looking a bit like a fire truck with its bright red paint with a pair of white stripes, the commercial van offers the usual combination of visual sportiness of its exterior with a bit disappointingly anemic diesel engine. However, if you don’t plan to take the van to Silverstone (you don’t, do you?), the vehicle still seems like a nice choice thanks to numerous interior and exterior enhancements that come as a part of the package.
It has been years, YEARS, that we in Europe asked FoMoCo to bring here some of their gorgeous Ford F-150 half-ton pickup trucks. Now we have a light-duty eye stopper of our own in the form of the 2011 Ford Ranger! Although in terms of available engines, optional equipment and interior features the new truck falls short of its famed counterpart that was designed for the North American market, it is still a good thing to know that the brand’s European customers will soon get a nice “show-off” truck of their own.
Known for their glowing red-hot versions of production cars and trucks, the legendary Ford Special Vehicle Team (aka SVT) has prepared an even more powerful variety of the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor half-ton truck. Planned to be available for order starting December 1, 2009 at a price of $44,995 and equipped with a lot more powerful engine, the vehicle will be faster than a lot of German car-based SUVs (well, at least on a straight line.)
At the upcoming SEMA 2009 tuning show in Las Vegas, FoMoCo is going to present its new 2010 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet FR500CJ drag racer, a sequel of the last year’s 2008 Mustang Cobra Jet limited edition model. Perhaps, the ugliest Mustang you have ever seen although, being a custom cruiser enthusiast for many years, I can somehow get the appeal of a car that seems to be deliberately exaggerating most of its weakest design points just in order to look the baddest-ass hardest-case on the block.
German tuning specialist Loder1899 that usually specializes on much more expensive British beasts made by Jaguar and Aston Martin, has released an upgrade program for the much humbler Ford Focus RS 300hp performance hatchback. Its desire to jump on the RS tuning bandwagon is easy to understand. While the new vehicle is not as exclusive, it is so popular among younger enthusiasts that it will possibly give the German brand more exposure (and hopefully more orders) than the two aforementioned brands combined.
Saleen Automotive, a California-based tuning specialist that has been in the business of coach-building for exactly 25 years, has just released its new Saleen Dark Horse special edition performance coupe. Based on the 2009 Ford Mustang GT, the new sports car features a more powerful version of the same 4.6-liter 3-valve SOHC Modular V8 engine with variable camshaft timing and a number of other amenities, including an aggressive-looking aero kit.
The 2009 Ford Mustang, which is basically a facelifted 2008 model, will feature a choice of three roof options. Unlike the standard metal coupe and convertible, the Blue Oval’s new car will also sport a panoramic glass roof, an option usually seen on much more expensive cars like Mercedes-Benz SLK or the Lexus ES.
Ford Europe has revealed another couple of photos of its upcoming 2009 Ford Ka compact hatchback. The new city car is supposed to replace the first generation model that was first introduced back in 1996 and, although quite profitable for the carmaker thanks to its dirt-cheap manufacturing costs, finally too old to attract enough attention from young customers searching for their first brand new car.
