2011 Range Rover Evoque coupe

2011 Range Rover Evoque coupe

The Indian-owned British brand will officially present its long-awaited 2011 Range Rover Evoque crossover, which is based on the 2008 Land Rover LRX Coupe SUV concept, at the upcoming 2010 Paris Motor Show. While a lot of fans of the brand will possibly frown at its ‘girlish’ design, I must admit that this is a very smart move by the reputed car manufacturer that clearly needed to introduce a luxury compact SUV that would be able to compete with such established players as Audi Q5 and BMW X3.

Expression Motorsport Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG wide body kit

Expression Motorsport Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG wide body kit

The Belgian tuning studio Expression Motorsport, a company that offers upgrade programs for literally dozens of Mercedes models from unassuming A-Class (W168) to the extravagant 2002-2011 SLR 230, has released a ghetto-style wide body appearance kit for the 2009 W164 Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG performance SUV. Probably inspired by those aggressive-looking DTM sports cars, the new kit makes the vehicle’s wheel arches even wider and the angry front bumper even more aggressive.

2010 Nissan Rogue Krom (Limited) Edition

The Japanese brand will soon start selling its 2010 Nissan Rogue Krom Edition compact city crossover. Known in Europe as Nissan Qashqai, the compact SUV is quite popular there thanks to a nice combination of small exterior that makes it fairly easy to park without losing too much paint on bumpers even in busy cities like Paris and London, adequate fuel economy with proportionally low carbon footprint, and, relatively low price and cost of ownership.

BMW X5 xDrive35d crossover SUV tuned by Hartge

BMW X5 xDrive35d crossover SUV tuned by Hartge

Designed by the German tuning specialist Hartge for those who think that the new X5 E70 series is just not extreme enough, the new upgrade program for the 2009 BMW X5 xDrive35d performance SUV includes not only the usual mix of add-on plastic and carbon, but also actually makes its 3.0-liter engine significantly more powerful. As a result, you get yourself a car, which is not just different from the rest of the pack, but is actually more fun to drive, although I am not sure whether you will be able to shell almost €30,000 for the parts and labor.

2011 Buick plug-in hybrid crossover SUV

Buick Envision Concept: Plug-In Hybrid SUV

It has just been reported that, in about 18 months General Motors (GM) will possibly start selling a plug-in hybrid mid-size crossover SUV under their Buick entry-level luxury brand. Probably set to compete against hybrid-powered Lexus RX series of medium-sized luxury cars, the vehicle may become a serious weapon in the American brand’s fight against Japanese domination on the Chinese market. But, even if you happen to live in Shanghai with its air poisoned by millions of gas-powered cars, don’t hold your breath yet: lots of things can happen in eighteen months and the concept may be scrapped altogether.

2009 VW Tiguan tuning kit from B&B

Although the 2009 VW Tiguan compact crossover SUV offers more than adequate dynamic for everyday commute, German tuner B&B apparently decided that you can never get too much oomph for a car like this. And, given how dull the original bodywork of the small SUV looks, it is actually great that the German tuning specialist didn’t forget to offer a very organic body kit in the process.
