It has been years, YEARS, that we in Europe asked FoMoCo to bring here some of their gorgeous Ford F-150 half-ton pickup trucks. Now we have a light-duty eye stopper of our own in the form of the 2011 Ford Ranger! Although in terms of available engines, optional equipment and interior features the new truck falls short of its famed counterpart that was designed for the North American market, it is still a good thing to know that the brand’s European customers will soon get a nice “show-off” truck of their own.
Known for their glowing red-hot versions of production cars and trucks, the legendary Ford Special Vehicle Team (aka SVT) has prepared an even more powerful variety of the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor half-ton truck. Planned to be available for order starting December 1, 2009 at a price of $44,995 and equipped with a lot more powerful engine, the vehicle will be faster than a lot of German car-based SUVs (well, at least on a straight line.)
We are probably still at least a couple of decades away from economically feasible commercial vans and full-size trucks that are either directly powered by electricity or equipped with a fuel-cell stack that doesn’t cost its weight in gold, but it is still a pleasure to see even minor increments in fuel efficiency when it comes to vehicles whose main purpose in life is to help their owners earn a living. General Motors has just unveiled some official fuel economy numbers for their upcoming 2010 GMC Sierra and its twin brother Chevrolet Silverado. Powered by the same 5.3-liter V8 engine, both trucks will sport significant improvements in both city and highway driving cycles.
Want to see the new limited edition 2008 Toyota HiLux Invincible pickup truck? Than, perhaps, you should include the next Commercial Vehicles auto show in Birmingham, UK, into your travel schedule for the April, 2008. At the event, the Japanese carmaker’s official tuning house TRD will present a version of the popular truck powered by a larger, more powerful oil-burner, as well as new rims, more advanced interior, and new multimedia gadgets.
The new 2006 Mazda BT-50 one-ton pickup truck will be unveiled just in a couple of weeks. The event will take place during the 2006 Bangkok Motor Show that will be held from March 22 through April 2 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center, Thailand.
