The German luxury brand will soon start selling the 2009 Porsche Cayenne GTS Design Edition 3 sports utility vehicle. With a production run limited to only a mere thousand of glorified performance SUVs, the special edition model may spur a wave of interest in the model that, truth be told, already stays on the production line way too long.
Although the 2009 VW Tiguan compact crossover SUV offers more than adequate dynamic for everyday commute, German tuner B&B apparently decided that you can never get too much oomph for a car like this. And, given how dull the original bodywork of the small SUV looks, it is actually great that the German tuning specialist didn’t forget to offer a very organic body kit in the process.
The 2010 VW Touareg Hybrid mid-size SUV equipped with a V6 TSI engine and a 52 hp electric motor will feature whopping 26mpg (9.05l/100km) fuel economy in the combined cycle, besting even the oil-sipping 2009 Touareg V6 TDI diesel-powered model that was first unveiled at the LA Auto Show last November. Currently existing only as a prototype, the vehicle will be shown in flesh either simultaneously or fairly soon after the second generation of the popular luxury off-roader will be officially revealed to the public.
German tuning studio Lumma-Design has finally presented its first appearance kit for the BMW X6 sports activity coupe. First revealed back in July, 2008, the new Lumma CLR X650 wide body kit gives the X6 even more comics-like appearance reminiscent of those mean-looking yet highly ineffective Imperial Stormtroopers from the Star Wars saga.
Set to go on sale early next year as a 2010 model, the new Lexus RX450h crossover SUV gives you the best of two worlds. Featuring an efficient hybrid powertrain, it is almost as frugal as Prius, yet its interior gives you more luxury than a common tree-hugger could possibly hope for. Of course, if you are looking for a hybrid car that will save you lots of cash, this is probably not the best choice: given its official fuel efficiency rating of 29 miles per gallon, which is just 9 mpg better than that of 2010 Lexus RX 350 all-wheel drive model, you will have to cover lots of miles to break even if you count in difference in base price.
Current Porsche Cayenne may be one of the most versatile performance SUVs currently available on the market, but it has got a serious problem: it is old. In fact, it is so old that even the Biblical guy Methuselah looks like a boy scout when standing next to the German crossover SUV with its outdated sheet-metal and not especially inspiring plastic parts. JE Design, a tuning specialist of the same origin has made its own attempt at cosmetic surgery. Did they succeed? Hm…
German super-tuner Hamann -a company that deals in all things luxury including Mercs, Porsches, and Lamborghinis, but clearly preferring to be associated with BMW- has just revealed its first comprehensive customization program for the still-fresh BMW X6 sports car. Being a rather strange mix of a four-door coupe and an SUV, the base vehicle tries to be a jack of all trades. The German tuning specialist, however, helps you make the sporty crossover what it has to be: a sports car that, while still being a bit overweight compared to a normal four-door coupe, has all things necessary to give you a right mixture of driving pleasure and utility that many crossovers strived for, but only a few of them actually achieved.
GM is about to start selling the fuel-sipping XFE (which stands for Xtra Fuel Economy) versions of its 2WD 2009 Chevy Silverado, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Sierra and GMC Yukon full size SUV’s and trucks that were designed to increase the brand’s competitiveness now when people finally start to count every penny in the face of the crisis that promises to be the worst in American history since the Great Depression.
German super-tuner AC Schnitzer has just revealed its new Falcon wide-body appearance kit for the 2008 BMW X5 E70 performance-oriented crossover SUV. Besides wider wheel arches, the new body kit also includes new side steps, a new front bumper fascia that significantly decreases the vehicle’s off-road abilities, as well as new rear skirt with integrated exhausts.
Kahn Design and Cosworth have finally presented their first baby: the Kahn Cosworth Sport 300 tuning program for the 2007 Range Rover Sport entry-luxury SUV. As usual, the upgrade package includes a remapped ECU module, as well as a set of new alloy wheels and lots of new plastic that turn a nice mud-plugger into a strictly street-bound rice rocket.
